Alyse Lancaster is an Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL. She received her Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida in August 1999. She also received a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from UF in 1995, and Bachelor's degrees in English and advertising in 1994.

Her research area is in health communication. Her primary interest is in determining how the mass media can effectively be used to promote healthy behaviors and discourage unhealthy behaviors such as drunk driving, illicit drug use, and unsafe sex among college students. Her work has been published in Health Marketing Quarterly, The Howard Journal of Communications, The Proceedings of the American Academy of Advertising, and The Proceedings of the Conference of Advances in Health Care Research. Alyse also is co-author of two chapters in Sexual Teens, Sexual Media, (Lawrence Erlbaum & Associates).

Currently, Alyse teaches in the University of Miami's School of Communication. She teaches undergraduate courses in mass communication and advertising, as well as a graduate course in qualitative research methods. She also serves as a research consultant for Media Research Institute, Inc.
