The Broadcasting and Cable Yearbook provides extensive information about the broadcasting and cable industries.
The publication is divided into a number of areas in two volumes:
Volume 1:
- Law and Regulation, Government Agencies, and Ownership: Provides (1) information about the rules and regulations set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), (2) names, addresses, and phone numbers of government agencies related to broadcasting and cable, and (3) a listing of television, cable, and radio station owners
- Radio: Contains (1) a directory of both AM and FM radio stations in the US and Canada, including station formats, (2) the Arbitron population rankings by radio market (Radio Market Statistics), and (3) radio stations on the Internet
- Television: Contains (1) a directory of television stations in the US and Canada, (2) Television Market Statistics, which include Nielsen ratings by market area and market size, and (3) television stations and networks on the Internet
- Cable: Contains (1) a directory of cable television stations in the U.S. and Canada, (2) Cable Market Statistics, which include cable penetration by market and Nielsen ratings of the top 50 DMAs in terms of percentage of cable penetration, cable TV households, and TV households
- Satellites and Other Carriers: lists satellite owners and operators, perspectives of each satellite carrier and its satellites, teleports, microwave services, wireless cable operators, and multipoint distribution services
- Advertising and Marketing Services: contains listings for advertising agencies handling major radio and TV accounts, independent media buying/planning services, barter service companies, radio, TV, and cable representatives, and public relations, publicity and promotion services
- Programming Services: contains five parts: (1) producers, distributors, production, and other services, (2) radio programming services, (3) television programming services, (4) cable programming services, and (5) other programming services
- Services and Suppliers: contains two parts: (1) technological services (e.g., equipment manufacturers, technical services) and (2) professional services (e.g., consultants, research services, etc.)
- Associations, Events, Education, Awards: lists major national broadcasting and cable organizations, trade shows and events, educational efforts in radio, TV, and cable, and major broadcasting and cable awards
- Books, Periodicals, Videos: includes a listing of books on broadcasting, cable, and mass media, as well as periodicals related to broadcasting, cable, and mess media
Volume 2:
Radio, Television, and Cable Yellow Pages: lists each radio, TV, and cable station
